RAMSEY, NJ – A motorist escaped serious injury after the SUV he was driving collided with a pole on Route 17 in Ramsey this morning and burst into flames, the Daily Voice reports.
The collision happened in the highway’s northbound lanes near Brookside Drive at about 8:30 a.m., and knocked down powerlines that closed traffic in both directions.
The SUV’s driver was able to free himself from the wreckage and does not appear to have been seriously injured.
Hazmat crews were called to the scene to clean up a fuel spill.
