PISCATAWAY, NJ – A pedestrian was killed in Piscataway on Friday morning after stopping his vehicle to help an injured deer on the side of the road.
According to Nj.com, the 61-year-old man was headed south on Stelton Road when he spotted the animal in the northbound lane at about 6:50 a.m. The injured animal had apparently been struck by another passing car. The man exited his car and was walking toward the deer when he was struck near the intersection with Charles Terrace.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has been withheld, pending the notification of family.
The driver, a 68-year-old man from Piscataway, stopped and cooperated with police. No charges have been issued.
The accident is still being investigated.
