BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 59-year-old man has been charged after a two-vehicle wreck late Friday that injured himself and an 80-year-old woman in Ridgewood, reports Daily Voice.

The collision occurred at the Y intersection of North Monroe Street and Fairmount Road on January 13, at around 11:30 p.m.

According to Ridgewood Police, the man was driving a Chevy Silverado southbound on North Monroe Street when the vehicle veered past the double-yellow line near Fairmount Road. Moments later, the Silverado collided head-on with a northbound Honda CRV driven by the 80-year-old woman.

First responders transported both drivers to Hackensack University Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. No updates on their conditions have been released.

The driver of the Silverado has since been charged with Driving While Intoxicated, “making an unsafe lane change[,] and not wearing a seat belt.”

Multiple area agencies, including the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Investigations Unit, village firefighters, and the Ridgewood Ambulance Corps, assisted at the scene.
