Man attacks pedestrian with SUV in North Plainfield

NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – According to Nj.com, a man attacked a pedestrian with his SUV after an argument in North Plainfield on Monday morning.

20-year-old Emilio J. Liranzomercedes got into an argument with a 21-year-old Plainfield man in the 400 block of Somerset Street at about 1:15 a.m. Liranzomercedes’ initial attempt to run down the pedestrian with his GMC Acadia failed with the victim ran toward a building. Liranzomercedes considered following on foot, then jumped back in his SUV and ran over the pedestrian before crashing into the building.

The suspect tried to run from the accident on foot but good Samaritans at the scene detained Liranzomercedes until police could arrive.

The victim is listed in critical condition but is reported to be stable.
