8 injured as two fire trucks crash near Paterson supermarket

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — 8 firefighters were injured, three critically, Saturday evening in a crash involving two fire engines near a Paterson supermarket, reports FOX5 New York.

The accident happened at the intersection of Broadway and Straight Street at about 5:30 p.m.

According to officials, both fire trucks were responding to a call at 141 Main Street when, for reasons still unknown, the vehicles collided. The impact sent one truck into a tree and caused the other to strike the exterior of Golden Mango Supermarkets.

All eight patients were rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, where their conditions remain undisclosed.
