2 dead, several injured in crash on Route 22 in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Two people were killed and several others injured in a car crash in New Jersey late Tuesday night, according to abc7ny.com.

The accident happened at about 11 p.m. along Route 22 in Newark near the town line with Hillside.  The vehicle was traveling westbound when it crashed and caught fire, authorities said. Three people were ejected from the car and were transported to the hospital with burns.

All lanes of Route 22 were shut down in the vicinity of the crash scene. The accident is now under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
