A 58-year-old Paterson woman has settled her matter against the City of Paterson following a collision on the night of June 17, 2017. The accident was caused when she turned right from Lewis Street onto Beckwith Avenue, in Paterson, when she struck a guardrail that was protruding into the roadway. It was dark at the time of the collision and she did not see the guardrail prior to striking it. Witnesses testified that the guardrail had been in that condition for months prior to the accident and had been reported to the City.
As a result of the accident, the woman injured her neck and back resulting in both a cervical and lumbar fusion.
The woman was represented by Personal Injury Chair and Member Edward Capozzi and Associate Corey Dietz of Brach Eichler LLC.
The City of Paterson agreed to the amount following mediation with the Honorable Raymond A. Reddin on May 4, 2020.
