EAST HANOVER, NJ (MORRIS COUNTY) – A construction worker was killed after becoming trapped beneath a steel beam at a worksite in East Hanover on Wednesday afternoon, according to Brookdale Public Radio.
The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m., as the victim was working at a construction site. He has been identified as 45-year-old Newark man Orlando Rivas.
Rivas became trapped beneath a heavy steel beam for a short time, according to the report. He died at the scene.
The situation remains under investigation by multiple agencies, including OSHA. At this point, the incident is believed to have been an accident.
