According to NJ.com, the accident happened near milepost 18 on Route 40 when a 70-year-old man’s eastbound car collided with an oncoming vehicle. The Franklinville man’s vehicle then hit another westbound SUV.
The passenger in the eastbound vehicle was killed. She was identified as 74-year-old Barbara Wulffen, also of Franklinville.
The driver was airlifted to an area hospital. The two others drivers and a passenger in another vehicle sustained minor injuries.
At this juncture, the cause of the accident has not been released and authorities have not commented on who was at fault.
An investigation is ongoing.
