TENAFLY, NJ – A woman was killed, and a child was injured after they were struck by an elderly driver in Tenafly this morning, according to the Daily Voice.
The crash happened near the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Engle Street at about 7:30 a.m., as a 40-year-old Tenafly woman and a girl were crossing the street.
They were struck by the 82-year-old driver of a 2009 Honda Accord as he was turning left. After the crash, the driver ran home to ask someone to call for emergency aid.
Both pedestrians were taken to the hospital in Englewood, and there, the woman soon succumbed to her injuries.
The girl sustained non-critical injuries to her lower body.
The driver will likely face a summons for failing to yield to pedestrians.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
