CLARK, NJ – A woman was flown to the University Hospital Trauma Center in Newark after a serious accident on the Garden State Parkway on Monday night.
Officials received calls about the accident at about 8:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes at the Westfield Avenue overpass.
The accident involved only one vehicle and the one occupant was the female driver.
As emergency workers from Clark and Cranford worked to extricate the woman from her silver Mercedes Benz 320, traffic backed up on the freeway.
According to Patch.com, the woman was identified as Nicole May, 34. It took 20 minutes for firefighters to get her out from her car. The right lanes of the southbound roadway were closed for three hours following the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
