WOOD-RIDGE, NJ – A man from Massachusetts was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while attending a wedding last night in Wood-Ridge, according to the Essex Daily Voice.
The crash happened outside the Fiesta catering hall at 255 NJ-17 at about 10 p.m. when the victim, a 20-year-old from Roxbury, Mass., was struck by the driver of a red Dodge who then fled the scene of the accident.
The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, died at the scene.
A second collision occurred when another vehicle attempted to avoid striking the victim and collided with a median instead.
Police have spoken to multiple witnesses and occupants of the vehicle, though they have yet to determine who the driver of the vehicle was at the time.
The bride at the wedding was treated after feeling as though she would faint, and multiple guests at the wedding were witnessed screaming and crying by guests at other events.
Multiple agencies are investigating the accident and are asking potential witnesses to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor at (201) 646-2300.
