MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – The victims of the car versus train accident last Thursday night in Piscataway have been identified as local high school students.
According to RLS Media, the accident happened on the tracks near New Brunswick Avenue and Tyler Place. The vehicle apparently drove through the crossing and was struck by the Conrail freight train.
The passenger was unable to exit the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver was injured and taken to a local hospital. Both were students at Piscataway High School.
An accident is ongoing. At this time, it has been confirmed that the lights and alarms used at the railroad crossing were working when the crash happened. Further details have not been released.
