PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ – Three people were seriously injured when a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into another car on Route 20 in Paterson on Wednesday.
According to Daily Voice, a 20-year-old man was driving a Kia Forte northbound in the southbound lanes of Route 20 when he crashed head-on into a Honda Accord near 17th Avenue at about 5 a.m. Ford Escape then crashed into the Honda and into the guardrail.
The driver of the Kia and his 22-year-old passenger were taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Hospital in serious condition. The driver of the Honda, a 63-year-old Fair Lawn man, also remains in serious condition in the same hospital.
The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries. The 57-year-old woman from Hawthorne was also transported to the hospital but was released after being treated.
No charges have yet been filed, however, an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
