HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – A suspect has been charged for a fatal hit-and-run accident in Jersey City last month, according to NJ.com.
A 26-year-old man was fatally struck in front of his home on Hopkins Avenue near Summit Avenue. The victim, Shawn Charles, was transported to an area hospital after the crash in the early morning hours of July 4.
Charles was pronounced dead a short time later.
The suspect, 29-year-old Evans Severe, was arrested at his home on Thursday and charged with the second-degree crime of leaving a fatal accident scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
