Update: Police ask for help to ID Newark hit-and-run driver

NEWARK, NJ – Authorities are looking for help to identify the driver who left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run late Saturday night, according to NJ.com.

The accident that killed a 42-year-old pedestrian, Devere Rogers, happened at about 11:40 p.m. near the intersection of McCarter Highway and 4th Avenue.

The driver left the scene without stopping or calling for help.

Rogers died just a few minutes after midnight Sunday morning.

Police have not released a description of the vehicle or driver but are asking anyone with information to pass what they know along.
