FAIR LAWN, NJ – Police have released the identity of the pedestrian struck and killed in front of the Fair Lawn municipal building on Wednesday.
The Daily Voice reports that that the victim, who was struck by two vehicles on Fair Lawn Avenue on Wednesday, was 63-year-old Yuri Berger. Berger was walking near his house on Edward Street when the accident happened.
The driver of the 2012 Honda SUV that first hit Berger is a 53-year-old man from Fair Lawn. After the initial impact at 9:45 a.m., Berger was thrown under a second vehicle, a 2017 Mercedes Benz.
Police began administering CPR after lifting the Mercedes off the victim. Berger was then transported to a medical center in Paterson where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is still on-going and charges are pending.
