NEWARK, NJ – A driver struck and killed a pedestrian in the South Ward area of Newark yesterday before fleeing the scene of the crash, according to RLS Media.
The accident occurred on 815 S 11th St where the road intersects with Madison Ave. At about 8:25 p.m., the victim, who has yet to be publicly identified, was trying to cross the street before they were struck by a driver.
The driver reportedly fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Despite resuscitative efforts by emergency crews, the victim died at the scene of the accident.
Authorities are continuing to search for the driver and to investigate the collision.
