NEWARK, NJ – Two people, a civilian and a police officer, were injured after a chase and crash in Belleville on Monday night, according to RLS Media.
Police were searching for a vehicle after receiving reports from the 700 block of Broadway near midnight about suspects threatening people with a gun while inside a vehicle. Authorities conducted a motor vehicle stop when they caught up to the suspects’ vehicle on Mill Street in Belleville.
The car sped away and police gave pursuit until the suspects crashed near the intersection of Main Street and Mill Street.
Three suspects were taken into custody and a weapon was recovered without further incident.
Two people, one a civilian and one a police officer, were treated for minor injuries that resulted from the crash.
An investigation in ongoing.
