FORT LEE, NJ – According to NJ.com, a two-vehicle accident on the George Washington Bridge killed two and injured a third Thursday morning.
A Honda CR-V overturned after crashing with a Chevrolet Corvette on the bridge’s lower level at about 9:42 a.m. The CR-V’s passenger was ejected from their seat and was dead before firefighters and EMS were able to arrive on the scene. The driver of the CR-V was transported to an area hospital and later died of their injuries.
The Corvette’s driver was also transported to a local hospital.
The lower level of the bridge was closed following the accident and all traffic was detoured to the upper level.
The identities of the victims have not been released. The accident is still under investigation by the Port Authority Police Department.
