MANAHAWKIN, NJ – Two people were airlifted to the hospital after an accident on Route 72 on Saturday, according to Patch.com.
The three-vehicle accident happened at about 3:45 p.m. when a 2012 Hyundai Sonata hit a 2015 Lexus and 1999 Lincoln Town Car in the westbound lanes near the Causeway Bridge. The Sonata then traveled off the road, across the sidewalk before stopping in the median. It landed in the center of East Bay Avenue, close to the Mallard Island Yacht Club.
The Town Car as carrying four people, including an 8 -year-old. The driver and the minor were transported to the Jersey Shore Trauma Center.
The driver of the Sonata was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Authorities believe that speeding was a factor in the accident.
