BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Rail service was suspended Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer hit a train overpass while on U.S. Route 202 in north Mahwah, reports NorthJersey.com.

The collision occurred on a span of the highway just south of the New York state border.

No details on the circumstances behind the crash have been shared, but NJ Transit officials said the truck hit a section of the bridge where active rail lines do not travel. Mahwah Police confirmed no serious injuries were reported.

As a precaution, service for the Main-Bergen County Line train between Mahwah and Suffern, New York, was suspended as crews conducted an inspection.

At 12:40 p.m., rail service was resumed with delays. Later that afternoon, trains had begun running on regular schedule.
