SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A tractor trailer fire forced the closure of a stretch of a New Jersey highway Wednesday morning, according to 511nj.org.

The incident began shortly before 8:30 a.m. when the vehicle caught fire on US 1 southbound at New Road in South Brunswick Township, authorities said.

The right lane of US 1 was closed following the fire and remained shut down several hours later.  The New Jersey Department of Transportation advised motorists to follow detours in the area or plan an alternate route.
