Telephone pole accident kills one in Monmouth Co

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ – An accident killed one person on Monday after a vehicle struck a telephone pole on Route 9, according to Daily Voice.

The accident happened at about 1 p.m. on Route 9 at the U-Haul parking lot. The driver of a Ford Edge struck a telephone pole and a parked U-Haul truck, toppling the pole and making wires fall onto four other vehicles.

The Ford’s driver was trapped in her vehicle by the fallen wires. She died at the scene.

The accident had wires down in both directions of Route 9 from Texas Road to Gordons Corner road. Traffic was detoured around the scene from Old Bridge Township to Manalapan Township.

The driver who died was the only person injured in the accident.
