CLIFTON, NJ – A group of teenagers was apprehended after crashing a stolen vehicle with burglarized goods in Teterboro on Sunday morning.
According to Daily Voice, an 18-year-old man sped away from an officer in Clifton in a 2019 Mazda CX-9 at about 1:15 p.m. Police followed the vehicle, reported stolen out of Elmwood Park, into Passaic, onto Route 21, and then Route 46. The vehicle hit an embankment and ended up in a stream when the driver lost control in Teterboro.
The driver and the three passengers then fled from the authorities on foot. Authorities called in a K-9 unit and area police to assist with the search and capture of the four teenagers.
Jordan Sarmiento, the driver, is facing several charges, including for the stolen goods found inside the vehicle. He is being held in a Passaic jail.
The 15-year-old and 17-year-old girl passengers, along with the 15-year-old boy passenger were charged and released to their parents.
