Tanker truck accident causes fire in East Rutherford

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – A tanker truck overturning on the Western Spur of the New Jersey Turnpike started a fire on Monday morning, according to a local news report.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes near Exit 16W. The smoke and flames in the unexplained accident could be seen for miles and spread into the bushes around the crash scene.

Reports say that no one was injured in the accident.

The accident caused a significant back up for other drivers in the area. The exit ramp continued to be closed into the afternoon.
