BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A ride-share passenger suffered a medical episode just prior to a crash Thursday on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, reports Daily Voice.

PIP Police said a 37-year-old Suffern man was behind the wheel of a 2021 Honda Passport heading southbound when he lost control of the SUV while trying to avoid another vehicle. Moments later, the Passport veered past the median and collided head-on with a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by a 24-year-old Keasby man.

The Keasby man, who was driving for Uber at the time of the crash, told responding officers his 29-year-old male passenger experienced a medical emergency moments before the collision. Medics transported the victim, who is diabetic, to Hackensack University Medical Center. He was last listed in stable condition.

No injuries to either driver were reported.

A section of the parkway was shut down during the response and initial investigation.
