PATERSON, NJ – Three New Jersey state troopers are being hailed as heroes after their quick actions at an accident scene on Route 80 last week.
According to Daily Voice, three women were injured when their Honda sedan collided with the back of a tractor-trailer just before 3 a.m. last Friday. Troopers George Ward, Edgar Rodriguez, and Gary Rokoszak out of Totowa arrived on the scene even before firefighters and EMS were able to respond.
The front-seat passenger had been able to exit the car, but the driver and the backseat passenger were both trapped in the vehicle, severely injured. The driver was conscious despite her injuries. The other trapped occupant was struggling to breathe.
When firefighters arrived, the troopers had already assessed the scene and were able to help stabilize the victims as soon as the firefighters cut off the vehicle’s doors.
EMS then transported the three women to an area hospital. Each is expected to make a full recovery thanks to the efforts of the troopers, firefighters, and EMS workers.
