GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ – Authorities have confirmed that a man was under the influence when he struck a motorcycle in Deptford Township last week.
According to NJ.com, the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on August 22, as William Stotsenburg, 67, and Ann Fletcher, 52—both of Deptford—were riding a 1989 Harley-Davidson north on Tanyard Road in the area of Cattell Road and Brenner Avenue. As the motorcycle slowed down on a curve in the road, it was struck from behind by a 2007 BMW 325i driven by Miguel Pichardo, 19, of Westville. Pichardo was drunk at the time.
Stotsenburg and Fletcher were ejected from the bike, severely injuring both. Fletcher eventually passed away from her injuries.
Pichardo is facing charges of vehicular homicide, assault by auto, and driving while intoxicated.
