PATERSON, NJ – Police are investigating the connections between a car crash on Godwin Avenue and two victims of a shooting at the same location, according to a news report.
Police responded to a call about shots fired and a resulting car crash at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday near Auburn Street and Godwin Ave. When they arrived, they found the driver of one of the cars involved in a two-vehicle collision was suffering from a severe head injury.
It was not clear at first what had caused the wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where it was determined that the injuries were from the crash and not the shooting.
Meanwhile, two people came to the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital with gunshot wounds. They reported that they had been shot on Godwin Ave.
Police found shell casings at the scene of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
