NEWARK, NJ – A Newark police captain was struck and injured by an ATV in the North Ward area on Monday afternoon, according to a local news report.
According to RLS Media, authorities were attempting to stop a man who was erratically driving an ATV on Coeyman Street around 4 p.m. The 2nd Precinct captain was struck by the man in front of 15 Coeyman Street.
The ATV’s driver then ran from the scene, still wearing his helmet and pursued by officers. The suspect was last seen wearing dark clothes. Police are still searching for him.
The police captain’s injuries were not life-threatening and he received treatment at the scene.
