SURF CITY, NJ – The pilot of a banner plane was injured after the small aircraft crashed into the ocean yesterday afternoon in Surf City, according to a report by NJ.com.
The accident happened at 3:20 p.m. near the intersection of North 13th Street and Ocean Avenue.
The unidentified pilot of the Cessna 150 was the only one onboard the plane.
Surf City lifeguards had already rescued the pilot by the time emergency officials had arrived at the scene. The pilot was taken to the hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
According to the report, the plane remains submerged 17 feet beneath the water.
The accident is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
