BERGEN COUNTY, NJ – A pedestrian was struck and injured by a car while walking in the middle of the road in Fort Lee on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Daily Voice, the man was walking in the road underneath a highway overpass on Route 46/Route 1 near Bergen Boulevard when hit was hit by a 2011 Porsche Cayenne at about 3 p.m.
When authorities arrived, they found the Ford Lee victim unresponsive and suffering from a serious head injury, though still breathing. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Porsche, 71, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. At this time, no summonses have been issued.
An investigation is ongoing and police are seeking the public’s assistance as they continue looking into the accident.
Authorities have also taken this opportunity to remind pedestrians to use sidewalks.
