BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A pedestrian was left with severe injuries after being hit by a driver on Highway 37 in Berkeley Township on Friday afternoon, according to information from local news sources.

The crash happened on westbound Highway 37 at around 4:30 p.m., after a 38-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a driver traveling at a high rate of speed.

The victim was airlifted to the hospital in Jersey Shore to receive treatment for severe facial injuries.

It is unclear at this point if the driver remained at the scene following the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident at this time.
