Pedestrian killed in late-night hit-and-run crash on Rt. 1

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a driver on Route 1 late Friday night in a possible hit-and-run crash, according to information from NJ.com.

The crash happened at around 930 Route 1, near a Wawa convenience store, at around 11:15 p.m., as a male pedestrian was walking across the highway.

He was then struck by a driver of a northbound vehicle who then fled the scene.

The victim, who was not immediately identified pending family notification, was taken to the hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

Authorities are searching for the driver and the vehicle, which may be a black 2009-2015 Mercedes E-class sedan. The vehicle may also have damage to the front right headlight and fender area. The right side-view mirror may also be missing from the vehicle in question.
