Pedestrian hurt by hit-and-run driver at Nutley intersection

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — One person was sent to the hospital Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle in the Avondale area of Nutley, according to local media.

The incident occurred near the corner of Washington Avenue and Hancox Avenue at about 7:47 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but the pedestrian was hit by a driver in a silver sedan who fled the scene.

First responders arrived to find the victim suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was reported injured.

At this time, Nutley Police continue to investigate and search for the fleeing driver.
