ESSEX COUNTY, NJ – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in the South Ward section of Newark on Saturday night, according to RLS Media.
The fatal accident happened near the intersection of Elizabeth Avenue and Earl Street at about 10:35 p.m.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the driver had fled and left the victim lying on the ground.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and has not yet been identified.
The initial investigation has determined that the suspect was likely driving a Blue Ford Explorer and left the scene using Elizabeth Avenue. The suspect remains at large.
