Pedestrian critically hurt by hit-and-run driver in Evesham

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A 51-year-old Marlton resident was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle in Evesham Township, reports Daily Voice.

The incident occurred in the area of Kings Grant Drive and Coventry Circle East. Evesham Police Department officers responded to the scene at 12:40 p.m.

Officials did not disclose the circumstances behind the event, but officers arrived to find the pedestrian lying unconscious in the shoulder of the road after being struck. By then, the driver had fled the scene.

Evesham Fire-Rescue crews rushed the victim to Cooper Hospital with critical injuries. As of Wednesday, October 26, the patient was listed in stable condition.

An investigation later sent the department on a search for a a Nissan with body damage consistent with a pedestrian crash. An officer later located a black Nissan matching the description, and video footage later helped authorities identify and locate the driver on Canterbury Court.

The fleeing driver was taken into custody for an investigation into “knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in bodily injury,” and for DUI.
