ORANGE, NJ (ESSEX COUNTY) – A woman was killed after being hit by a car while she was crossing a street in Essex County early Thursday morning, according to NJ.com.
The accident happened at the intersection of Park Avenue and High Street, near St. John’s Cemetery, just after 5:45 a.m. as Orange woman Dilonna Mauricio, 60, was crossing the street.
She was hit by an Acura MDX, then was taken to University Hospital, and at 6:20 a.m., died of injuries sustained during the accident.
The driver, who was not publicly identified, remained at the site of the accident after the collision and has not yet been charged with a crime.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident at this time.
