CARTERET, NJ (MIDDLESEX COUNTY) – One person was killed and another four were hospitalized following an accident in Middlesex County late last night, according to local news sources.
The accident happened on the New Jersey Turnpike, near Exit 12 in Carteret, at about 10:45 p.m.
One person died at the scene.
Four other victims were taken to the hospital in Newark and New Brunswick for the treatment of undisclosed injuries.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released.
Southbound lanes of the highway were closed as authorities worked the crash.
New Jersey State Police are investigating the cause of the fatal accident at this time.
