BERGEN COUNTY, NJ – A woman was injured when she drove under a railroad crossing gate and was hit by a New Jersey Transit train in Garfield on Tuesday.
According to Nj.com, the woman drove her vehicle under the crossing gate at Outwater Lane at about 5:30 p.m. The woman was struck by an out-of-service train that was not carrying any commuters.
The woman sustained minor injuries from the crash. She was treated at the scene and refused any further medical attention. Her identity has not been released.
An investigation at the crash scene noted that the crossing gate, which was damaged in the accident, had been operating correctly before the crash. New Jersey Transit police are continuing an investigation.
