BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ – One person was killed in a car accident involving five vehicles on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge in Burlington County on Monday.
According to Nj.com, the pileup was originated when one westbound car clipped another on the bridge. One of the vehicles ended up in the eastbound lanes and struck an oncoming Honda Civic and two more vehicles then became involved.
Speeding appears to have been a factor in the initial impact.
The driver of the Honda died at the scene. Their identity has been withheld pending family notification.
Five other people were transported to a local hospital. Their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
The accident is still under investigation and Burlington County authorities are asking witnesses to reach out with any information they might have.
