According to NJ.com, the man was headed east on his Harley-Davidson on Route 22—Memorial Parkway—when he crashed with a 2000 Toyota Camry near the intersection of Fifth Street at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
He was identified as Dominic Belcastro, a devoted officer, father, and husband.
The motorcyclist had the right-of-way over the sedan when the accident happened and Belcastro attempted to put down the bike to evade a crash. Ultimately, he was struck by a car when the bike slid through the intersection.
The driver has not been cited, as of yet, but an investigation is still ongoing.
