CLIFTON, NJ – A Paterson police officer was charged Thursday in connection to a multi-vehicle crash that happened in Clifton last month.

According to local media, the collision happened at the 400 block of Lexington Avenue on February 13.  A 27-year-old off-duty officer collided with a vehicle in the area. The impact caused the vehicle that was hit to strike a parked car.

An occupant of the first vehicle that was struck was taken to Mary’s General Hospital in Passaic with injuries.

The off-duty officer was driving recklessly and had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit at the time of the collision.

He was charged Thursday with assault by auto causing bodily injury within 100 feet of school property, DWI, and reckless driving.
