NEWARK, NJ – Newark firefighters were called to the scene of a train fire in the East Ward section of the city over the weekend, according to RLS Media.
There were apparently no passengers aboard the “special train” headed for Morrisville Rail Yard when the engine caught fire at about 10 p.m. The train was along McCarter Highway near Wright Street when the fire was reported.
City firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire while Amtrak officials assisted to secure the scene.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
