HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – A New Jersey state senator was injured in a car accident that is suspected to be alcohol-related in Jersey City early Thursday.
According to NJ.com, the accident involved three vehicles on Culver Avenue close to Route 440 at about 9:40 a.m. State Sen. Sandra Cunningham was in her Infiniti G35X when she collided with a Ford Focus and Nissan Altima. Only Cunningham’s Infiniti was occupied.
The senator was transported to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries, that including loosened teeth.
An investigation is looking into whether alcohol played a factor in the accident.
Cunningham was first elected to the state senate more than a decade ago, following the death of her former-mayor husband.
