Motorcyclist fatally hit by van on Route 7 near Kearny

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A 22-year-old man died last Saturday, September 3, after his motorcycle was struck by another driver on Route 7 near Kearny, according to Daily Voice.

The fatal collision occurred on the westbound lanes of the highway (Belleville Turnpike) at the Newark-Jersey City Turnpike split. It was first reported at about 9:30 p.m.

Officials have not released details on the circumstances behind the crash, but the young man was riding a yellow Honda motorcycle when it was believed to have been hit by a GMC van driven by a 69-year-old man.

A responding officer arrived to find the victim’s body and the motorcycle had been moved to the highway’s shoulder by passing motorists. Officials noted a helmet, glove, and shoe were found next to the rider.

After life-saving measures were administered, the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

No further details have been provided at this time. As of Thursday, September 8, no charges have been filed.
