Police are still looking into the details of a crash in Middlesex County that took the life of the driver involved Monday evening, October 28.
Initial investigation done by the Monroe police department concluded that the victim – identified as 51 year-old Joseph Deluca, a resident of Kendall Park in South Brunswick – was driving his pickup truck southbound on Daniel Road just north of Avenue C at around 5:10 p.m. when the crash occurred. Police added that Deluca lost control of his pickup truck, veering off the road to the left before hitting several trees.
Police who responded at the scene said that when they arrived, Deluca’s pickup truck was wedged in between several trees. Police found Deluca unconscious inside his truck. Police determined Deluca was suffering from life-threatening injuries and brought him to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was pronounced dead not long after.
Monroe Police are still looking into what caused the crash.

Car accidents that involve a stationary object can be very serious at times. The force of the impact from a vehicle that is suddenly stopped by a structure or stationary object can impart heavy injuries to the driver and any passengers the vehicle may have. That’s why it’s even more important to stay focused on the road when driving. A focused driver can avoid accidents by being able to react to something that may cause it. It’s also necessary to check the vehicle for any faulty component before heading out. For an example, a faulty braking system may not allow the driver to evade obstacles on the road. A focused and prepared driver makes the road safer.
