OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – A Manchester man was struck and killed in front of his home by a hit-and-run driving coming to pick up free furniture on Tuesday afternoon.
According to NJ.com, Jack Gotfried, 69, was at his house on Yorketown Parkway in the Whiting section of Manchester when the accident happened. Kevin Nooman arrived to pick up some furniture that Gotfriend was giving away for free. Nooman speedily backed his car up and pinned Gotfried between the car and a truck.
The victim was airlifted to a Neptune hospital but ultimately did not survive the crash.
Nooman was later apprehended in Lacey while on foot along Western Boulevard. He is has been charged for the fatal accident and is in jail.
Investigators also planned a blood test to determine whether Nooman was impaired when the accident happened.
