ALPINE, NJ – A Brooklyn man was struck and killed when he stepped onto the Palisades Interstate Parkway to check if he hit a small animal on Thursday, July 2, around 10 p.m.
According to the Daily Voice, the man thought he hit a small animal with his minivan while traveling northbound on the PIP, right before the New York State border.
While standing in the road, the man was hit by a 2018 Cadillac CT6 heading northbound.
Police Sgt. First Class Raymond E. Walter said the victim was transported to Nyack Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials are still investigating this accident.
